Personal Lists

One of the exciting new features available in the new CARLWeb catalog is the ability to choose a selection of items and place multiple holds at once.

After searching for an item by Keyword, Author, Title, Subject, Call Number or ISBN, you may notice on the left hand side of the page the options under the heading "Personal list." This is where you can keep track of items that look interesting to you while you are searching the catalog.

You can either add everything on a page to the list or just the items you select by checking the box to the left of the title. After you choose which titles you want to add to your list, just click on "Add checked records from this page to list." Remember, you must add items from each individual page before going to the next page.

You can place holds on all items on your list or choose which items you wish to place on hold by checking the boxes next to each entry. If you look through your selections and decide you only want a few of the items on your list, simply check off those items that you want and click on "Place holds on checked records from this page."

Type in your library card number and last name and click "Place Hold." If you want to place more holds or take a look at your account after you place this hold, you must check the box next to "Remember me for this session."

You can do other things from the personal list, as well. You can email the items on your personal list to yourself or someone else. You can also download and save the list to your computer or to an external storage device (like a flash drive, CD or floppy disk).

Requesting Materials with CarlWeb

Using the Internet browser of your choice, go to the Pasco County Library System's web page, located at:

http://pascolibraries.org

The catalog interface is situated in the middle of your screen, near the top:

To search for an item, click on the drop-down menu to choose your search method before typing what you're looking for in the search box. You can search by Keyword, Title, Author, Subject, Call Number or ISBN:

This is your results page. The menu on the left side of the screen gives additional options. Once you have found what you are looking for, click on the blue title to see where it is located and if it is available:

The next screen will show at what branch the item is located, where it is located inside the branch and if it is currently available for checkout. At this point, you can either get the item off the shelf, if it is available at your location, or request that it be held for you, if it is checked out or located at another branch. To place a hold on an item, simply click "Place hold(s):"

Enter your library card number and last name and click "Enter." The last name field is not case sensitive. If you want to place more holds or take a look at your account after you place the current hold, you must check the box next to "Remember me for this session:"

Choose the branch where you would like to pick up your item and click "Place Hold:"

A screen will appear confirming your request:

When your item arrives at your branch, you will receive an automated phone call, e-mail or mail notice. The item will be held for you for seven days so you can check it out before it is returned to the owning branch.

You may now return to your previous search my clicking on "Back to title list" on the left side of the screen or you may begin a new search by clicking on "New Search" at the top right of the screen.
